Proxies for YouTube: what's allowed, what's risky, and what our community runs
Updated October 25, 2026 · Written by Golden
YouTube doesn't ban proxies. It bans using them to get around a block or restriction, to scrape YouTube, or to fake views and engagement. Most creators don't need one at all. People who run several channels often use one static residential IP and one browser profile per channel. This page covers the rules, the setup our community runs, vendor prices, and the vendors to stay away from.
Check a proxy before you trust it
Vendors say “residential” about IPs that sit in rented hosting blocks. Paste any exit IP into our free Is this IP residential? checker. It reads the public registry record and reverse DNS and tells you whether the IP looks like a home connection. No signup.
Legit vs. risky: what YouTube's rules say
The YouTube Terms of Service list what you may not do. Three items cover proxies: getting around (“circumvent”) any part of the service, including security features and limits; accessing the service by “automated means (such as robots, botnets or scrapers)”; and causing “inaccurate measurements of genuine user engagement”. A proxy only matters through what you use it for.
| Use | Where it stands | Do you need a proxy? |
|---|---|---|
| Running several channels yourself or with a team | Allowed. Give people access with channel permissions or Brand Accounts, no password sharing. | No. Many portfolio owners still use one IP per channel (see below). |
| Monetizing more than one channel | Allowed with one AdSense account. YouTube says you can monetize more than one channel with the same AdSense for YouTube account. | No. |
| A team abroad signing in to Studio from a stable IP | Allowed. Expect security prompts anyway. | Sometimes. A static IP for the team, not to hide who owns what. |
| Seeing signed-out search results and ads as a US or UK viewer | No conflict when done by hand, at low volume. | Yes, a residential IP in that country. For recommendations only, the Location setting is enough. |
| Checking your own geo-blocked links and end screens from other countries | No conflict. | Yes. |
| Collecting views, titles and channel data | Scraping breaks the ToS rule on automated access. Use the YouTube Data API. | No proxy. Use the API. |
| Bots, view farms, scripted watching or channel “warm-up” automation | Banned by the fake engagement policy and the ToS. | Don't. |
| A new channel after a strike, suspension or termination | Ban evasion. A terminated owner may not “use, possess, or create” any other channel (terminations policy). | Don't. No IP fixes this. |
| Several AdSense accounts for one person | Not allowed: one AdSense account per payee name (Help). | Don't. |
| Buying YouTube Premium in a cheaper country | Premium must be used mainly in your sign-up country (Help). | Don't. It can get cancelled. |
What our community runs: Golden's setup
This is how I run my channels, and how a lot of people running faceless channel portfolios do it. I first posted it on X, and it's the setup I teach inside Elevate to members who run more than one channel.
- One browser profile per channel in an antidetect browser. I use Dolphin Anty, whose free plan covers the first few channels.
- One static residential IP per channel, never shared, never swapped once assigned. I use Webshare and TubeProxies. No free or shared proxies.
- A fingerprint that describes a real computer. I lost a channel that had already passed the impression test to a profile that claimed an Apple Silicon processor with an Nvidia graphics card. No real machine has that combination.
- Check the IP from inside the profile before uploading, on browserleaks (fraud score) and on our IP checker (is it really residential).
- Don't create channels inside the antidetect browser. Log in to a channel you created normally. In my experience you usually can't create one inside these browsers anyway.
- Don't open those channels in the Studio app on your phone. One phone signed in to every channel undoes the separation.
About “trust score”
Every channel carries a trust score: an internal rating that decides whether YouTube tests your videos on the homepage and in suggested at all. A flagged IP or a fingerprint that describes an impossible computer drags it down, which is why each channel gets its own clean IP and its own coherent profile. YouTube hasn't officially confirmed how it works. The 0-views diagnostic shows how I test a new channel for it.
Why I don't verify channels with an ID
“Skip the ID/selfie verification for advanced features. The risk isn't worth the marginal benefit. If one channel gets terminated and Google has your ID on file, every channel connected to your identity is at risk.”
Phone-verify a channel for intermediate features once it passes the impression test, so you can add custom thumbnails and longer uploads. For advanced features, don't upload an ID or a selfie video: they unlock on their own once the channel has enough history, per YouTube's feature access page. Keeping your ID off your channels keeps one channel's problems from following you to the rest (full post). What the Partner Program itself asks for is on YPP eligibility requirements.
Proxy picks
For logging in to a channel, people use static residential (ISP) proxies, priced per IP. Per-gigabyte rotating residential proxies suit research and geo checks, not channel logins. The first two are what our community uses. The other two are large mainstream vendors.
| Vendor | Type | Entry price | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Webshare | Static residential (ISP) | $6/month for 20 IPs ($0.30 per IP) (pricing) | Community pick. Owned by Oxylabs. Dedicated IPs cost more than the entry tier. The free plan is datacenter IPs, wrong for channel logins. |
| TubeProxies | Static residential, US only | $7.20 per IP a month for 1 IP, down to $4.50 per IP at 100, quarterly billing (pricing) | Community pick, built for YouTube. Unmetered, dedicated IPs. Promises a 0 fraud score at delivery with free replacement; its terms say that can change after. |
| Decodo | Static residential, rotating residential | Static from $0.27 per IP (static); rotating $4/GB pay as you go (residential) | Formerly Smartproxy. Mainstream; we found no sourcing scandal. |
| Oxylabs | Rotating residential, ISP, datacenter | Residential $6/GB at the lowest tier (pricing) | Enterprise vendor. Fits research and geo checks more than one-IP-per-channel setups. |
A few things to know about TubeProxies before you buy: it is a small, newer vendor with little independent feedback, it also sells phone numbers, and a couple of X users have posted about slow support. I've also vouched for its founder publicly (post). Check its IPs with the IP checker like any other vendor's.
Antidetect browsers
An antidetect browser keeps each channel in its own profile, with its own cookies, extensions, proxy and device fingerprint. For an agency or a team of editors that also means fewer mix-ups between client accounts. If you run one or two channels of your own, YouTube's channel permissions are enough and you don't need one.
| Browser | Free plan | Entry paid plan | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dolphin Anty | Up to 5 profiles in the plan table (the sign-up banner says 3) | Starter $10/month, 20 profiles; Base $89/month, 100 profiles (pricing) | Community pick and the one I use. In July 2022 a breach of its cloud storage exposed about 15% of profiles; the hole was patched (report). |
| Multilogin | 5 profiles | Pro from $11/month, or $7.08/month billed yearly (pricing) | The oldest of the group (2015). No incident found. |
| GoLogin | 3 profiles, 7-day trial | Professional $9/month, or $4.50/month billed yearly (pricing) | Cheapest paid entry here. No incident found. |
| AdsPower | 2 profiles, 7-day trial | Paid prices load in the browser; see pricing | In January 2025 malicious wallet extensions were pushed through its app center. AdsPower disclosed it, removed them and says the hole is fixed (report). |
| Incogniton | Limited free plan | Starter Plus $19.99/month, 10 profiles (pricing) | Netherlands company. No incident found. |
Two cautions apply to all of them. Their automation features (Dolphin's scenarios, AdsPower's RPA) are exactly the scripted activity YouTube's fake engagement policy bans if you point them at YouTube. And none of them is “undetectable”, whatever the marketing says.
Proxy vendors to avoid
- NetNut. The FBI seized its domains on July 2, 2026, over its links to the Popa botnet (KrebsOnSecurity, Google Threat Intelligence). Some “best YouTube proxy” lists still recommend it.
- The IPIDEA family. In January 2026 Google took down the IPIDEA residential proxy network and named these brands: 360 Proxy, 922 Proxy, ABC Proxy, Cherry Proxy, Door VPN, Galleon VPN, IP 2 World, Ipidea, Luna Proxy, PIA S5 Proxy, PY Proxy, Radish VPN, Tab Proxy.
- Vendors that sell views or subscribers, or market proxies as a way to get around YouTube's restrictions. That's fake engagement and circumvention.
My opinion, not a fact: Google owns YouTube and is actively taking residential proxy networks down. IPs from pools tied to those botnets are the ones most likely to trigger security checks on a Google sign-in.

FAQ
Is it against YouTube's rules to use a proxy?
Using a proxy or VPN is not banned by itself. What YouTube's Terms of Service ban is what you do with it: getting around a block, restriction or security feature, accessing YouTube with bots or scrapers, and inflating views, likes or other metrics. Running a channel from behind a proxy is not in that list. Using proxies to hide a new channel after a termination is ban evasion.
Do I need a proxy to run several YouTube channels?
No. YouTube lets one person run several channels, give a team access through channel permissions without sharing passwords, and monetize more than one channel with the same AdSense account. Many people who run channel portfolios still use one static residential IP and one browser profile per channel. That is a community practice, not something YouTube asks for.
What kind of proxy do people use for YouTube channels?
Static residential (also called ISP) proxies, priced per IP with unmetered bandwidth, with one IP kept on the same channel for good. Rotating per-gigabyte residential proxies are for research and geo checks, not for logging into a channel. Free and shared datacenter proxies are the ones creators say to avoid.
Is the YouTube trust score real?
Among people who run faceless channels, trust score is the internal rating that decides whether YouTube distributes a channel's videos at all. Account history, verification, the IP and the device fingerprint all feed it, which is why each channel gets its own static IP and browser profile. YouTube hasn't officially confirmed how it works.
Should I verify my YouTube channel with my ID?
Golden doesn't, and it's common practice among people running several channels. Verify with a phone number for intermediate features once the channel passes the impression test. Advanced features unlock automatically once the channel has enough history, so there's no need to upload an ID or a selfie video and tie your identity to every channel.
Which proxy vendors should I avoid?
NetNut, whose domains the FBI seized in July 2026 over its links to the Popa botnet, and the brands Google named in its January 2026 IPIDEA takedown: 360 Proxy, 922 Proxy, ABC Proxy, Cherry Proxy, Door VPN, Galleon VPN, IP 2 World, Ipidea, Luna Proxy, PIA S5 Proxy, PY Proxy, Radish VPN, Tab Proxy.
How do I check whether a proxy IP is really residential?
Run the exit IP through a public registry lookup. Elevate's free IP checker reads RDAP registry data and reverse DNS and tells you whether the IP looks like home broadband or rented hosting sold as residential. It can't tell you whether YouTube already dislikes an IP.
